There’s an old saying that goes, “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.” Well, we aren’t really big fans of shaming anyone for anything, frankly. What we do enjoy, however, is a good-natured April Fool’s Day gag, and unsurprisingly, we’ve got another one to come clean on. You may have already made it to the end of the puzzle to learn the real deal behind our latest developments in VoIP and mobile telephone hardware, in which case this is probably old news or you. For anyone else who hasn’t been apprised of the situation, our latest technology development of the all-new Left-Handed Phones we promoted over the weekend were another prank for April Fool’s Day. And because a VirtualPBX April Fool’s Day is something we paradoxically take quite seriously, we may have actually gotten a few people really excited.
The Anatomy of a VirtualPBX April Fool’s Day
To pull off a series of elaborate VirtualPBX April Fool’s Day pranks takes almost as much planning and preparation as it does to launch a traditional marketing initiative, as well. And at the risk of broadcasting to my superiors the truth behind this annual spike of effort, sometimes we apply even more time and energy into the VirtualPBX April Fool’s Day promos than anything else. The fact of the matter is that there’s a lot of brainstorming and creativity behind the likes of our Zombie Apocalypse or Unbelievable New VoIP Products jokes, and this Left-Handed Phones concept was no exception. Of course, we don’t ever try too hard to cover our tracks, though. Because this year we had the bottom of our Left-Handed Phones page covered with equally silly legalese. That and even though we’ve been around for as long as there has ever been a commercial VoIP market, our customer testimonials don’t actually date back to the Renaissance Period. Alas.
It’s Not All Fun & Games
Even though we had a blast with this and got some great feedback over email and across social media on Facebook and Twitter, we would be remiss if we didn’t highlight some of the other, very real, news we’ve had just this year.
