Yealink has a new generation of business desk phones.
The T7 Series includes five models ranging from the T73U and T73W to the T77U. We’re taking a closer look at the Yealink T73W and T74W, the two models with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 built in and the two currently available in the VirtualPBX store.
Both bring updated security, improved noise filtering, and a redesigned interface to the desk. They also have a lot in common with each other, which makes the choice between them less complicated than a long list of specifications might suggest.

Here’s what changed with the T7 Series, what separates the T73W from the T74W, and who actually needs the extra hardware.
What’s New With the Yealink T7 Series
The biggest changes in the T7 Series show up in the things people interact with every day: how the phone connects, how calls sound, and how easy the phone is to work with.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are built in
Both the T73W and T74W include dual-band Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.
Wi-Fi gives you more freedom over where the phone sits because the network connection doesn’t have to come from an Ethernet jack. Bluetooth makes it easier to pair a wireless headset without adding another adapter.
That doesn’t mean Wi-Fi makes the phone completely wireless. The phone still needs power. If you aren’t using Power over Ethernet, both models support an optional 5V/2A power adapter. They also include dual Gigabit Ethernet ports when a wired connection makes more sense.
Calls are designed to stay clear in busy spaces
Yealink combines its Optima HD Voice platform with Acoustic Shield and Smart Noise Filtering on both phones.
The practical point is simple: the phone is designed to reduce surrounding office noise so the person on the other end hears more of you and less of everything happening around your desk. Both models also include a 3W full-duplex speakerphone.
That matters more in a shared office, front desk, or other active workspace than another impressive-sounding item on a spec sheet.
The interface got some attention, too
The new phones use color displays with a streamlined interface, including light and dark modes and an accessibility mode.
The screen is also one of the biggest differences between the T73W and T74W, but more on that in a minute.
Yealink put more emphasis on security
Security is a major part of how Yealink is positioning the new T7 phones.
The platform includes secure boot, firmware protection, a Trusted Execution Environment, WPA3 support, TLS 1.3, SRTP media protection, and encrypted configuration files. Yealink groups these protections into what it calls its “Three Rings of Security,” covering the phone itself, its network connection, and information being transmitted.
Most people buying a desk phone aren’t going to spend their afternoon thinking about TLS versions. The important part is that security was built into the new generation rather than treated as an afterthought.
Yealink T73W: The Everyday T7 Desk Phone
The Yealink T73W is the more compact of the two phones.
It has a 2.8-inch color display, supports up to 12 SIP accounts, and includes eight physical line keys that can page through up to 40 programmable DSS functions. Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 are built in, along with dual Gigabit Ethernet, PoE, and a USB port for things like headsets or expansion modules.
That combination gives most office users plenty to work with without putting an oversized phone on the desk.
There is one specification worth clearing up because IP phone terminology can get confusing quickly.
The T73W is often described as a 12-line phone, but that doesn’t mean there are 12 dedicated line buttons sitting next to the screen. It supports up to 12 SIP accounts while providing eight physical line keys. Those keys can also be assigned to extensions, speed dials, BLF status, and other functions across multiple pages.
In other words, SIP-account capacity and the number of buttons you can physically press are two different things.
For someone handling normal day-to-day business calls, the T73W hits a pretty comfortable middle ground. You get the newer wireless, audio, and security features without paying for screen space or controls you may never use.
The tradeoff is the 2.8-inch display. If your phone is a major part of how you work all day, especially if you’re watching a lot of extensions or regularly moving between lines and programmable functions, that smaller working area may be the first thing you outgrow.
Yealink T74W: More Room for Heavier Call Handling
The Yealink T74W starts with the same basic T7 platform and gives you more room to work.
The screen grows to 4.3 inches at 480 x 272 resolution. The phone supports up to 16 SIP accounts instead of 12, with 10 physical line keys and as many as 50 programmable DSS functions.
You still get Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, dual Gigabit Ethernet, PoE, USB connectivity, Acoustic Shield, Smart Noise Filtering, and support for Yealink’s EXP55 expansion modules.
So moving from the T73W to the T74W isn’t about unlocking an entirely different class of features.
It gives you more working space and more call-handling capacity.
The larger display can show more information at a glance, while the additional line keys give someone handling multiple extensions, speed dials, transfers, or active calls more controls immediately in front of them.
That makes the T74W easier to justify for managers, reception or administrative staff with heavier call traffic, and anyone whose desk phone functions as more of a call-handling workstation.
For someone who mostly picks up the phone, makes calls, checks voicemail, and uses a headset, the extra room may simply be more than they need.

Who Do We Recommend the T73W and T74W For?
For most people who want a modern desk phone for everyday business calling, we’d recommend the T73W. Its smaller footprint works well on an individual desk or in a home office, while 12 SIP accounts and up to 40 programmable DSS functions leave plenty of room for normal call handling.
The T74W is the better fit when the phone plays a bigger role in your workday. Receptionists, administrative staff, office managers, and other people who regularly manage multiple calls or extensions get more room to work with its larger 4.3-inch display, additional line keys, and greater programmable-key capacity.
The larger screen can also make the T74W a better choice for anyone who simply prefers information and controls to be easier to see at a glance.
Where the T73W and T74W Fit Within the T7 Series
The T73W and T74W are just two members of a larger Yealink T7 family.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| T73U | 2.8", 320×240 | 12 | Wi-Fi/Bluetooth via USB adapters | Compact T7 model |
| T73W | 2.8", 320×240 | 12 | Wi-Fi + Bluetooth built in | Compact model with wireless built in |

The T73W and T74W give you the same basic size and capacity choices as their U-series counterparts, but with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth built in rather than added through USB adapters.
