Virtual PBX Under Leadership of New CEO

Hosted communications vendor gears up for growing market demand

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., — Dec. 3, 2002 — Virtual PBX, Inc., originator of the hardware-free, VirtualPBX® hosted communications phone system, has appointed accomplished senior management executive Paul Hammond as president and CEO.

Paul brings over 20 years experience in leading and managing high growth organizations to Virtual PBX. He was most recently Vice President of Business Development and Alliances for the ECI (Enterprise Integration) division of BEA Systems where he led the outbound operations of this group and helped BEA Systems achieve revenue of $975M within five years. Prior to that, Paul was Vice President of Sales & Marketing at digital image sensor developer Silicon Vision. He has also held various sales and marketing positions at Specialix, Siemens/Pyramid, Northamber and P & P Micro Distributors.

At Virtual PBX, Paul is responsible for leading the company through its next stage of growth as it proceeds to secure its position as the hosted communications vendor of choice. According to the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) 2002 Market Review and Forecast, spending on computer-telephone integration (CTI) rose 19.3 percent in 2001 to $3.2 billion and is expected to experience a 17.7 percent compound annual growth rate from 2001 to 2005.

“As business continues to seek out more cost efficient operational solutions, Virtual PBX plans to be there with a robust and economical alternative to high priced telephone systems”, said VirtualPBX™ Founder and Chief Technology Officer Steve Lange. “Paul has the knowledge, expertise and leadership accumen to take us down that path.”

Virtual PBX, Inc.was founded in 1997 by Steve Lange, a pioneer in the development of Parity Software’s VOS, the Voice Operating System used by many companies to design and deliver Voice-based applications. The company first introduced its VirtualPBX® service, a product name originally conceived by Lange and often used today as a generic label for the application, in 1997. The VirtualPBX® system saves companies thousands of dollars in equipment costs while enhancing their existing communications capabilities with a no-hardware solution that delivers greater functionality than expensive PBX systems.
