Polycom v3 Third Party Setup Guide (vConsole)

This guide will show you how to manually setup a Polycom SoundPoint 320, 321, 330, 331, 335, 450, 550, 560, 650, 670 phone for use with VirtualPBX. Please be sure that your Polycom phone is using firmware version 3.

The first step is obtaining credentials for your phone. These credentials work similarly to a user name and password to access something like an email account. You may obtain them by doing the following:

  1. Log into your VirtualPBX account as a system administrator
  2. Click on the Call Routing Tab up at the top
  3. Click on the link that says Create Softphone, in the upper right-hand corner
  4. On the right select Add 3rd Party Softphone
  5. You will be given a Username, Password, and Server. Please make a note of this.
  6. This guide is based on manually provisioning a new Polycom SoundPoint IP phone or one that has been reset back to its factory defaults. If in doubt, reset your Polycom SoundPoint back to its factory default settings.


Configuring Your Polycom SoundPoint IP Phone to Register with VirtualPBX

  1. Start up your phone and identify its IP address. You can find your phone’s IP address by going to the Status option section within the menu. Once in the Status section, click on the Network option and select the TCP/IP Parameters option. For this example we’ll assume that the phone’s IP address is 192.168.1.123.
  2. Point your browser to the web interface of the phone: http://192.168.1.123
  3. Click on Assign across from Owner Extension.
  4. You’ll now need to set your Polycom SoundPoint to register with VirtualPBX. Click on the Lines tab and configure as follows:
  5. In the Identification section of the Lines tab:
    • Set the Address field to the Username combined with virtualpbx.net, as shown to the right.
    • Set the Auth User ID field to the Username
    • Set the Auth Password field to the extension’s Password
    • Set the Label field to the name you want to appear on the phone’s display
  6. In the Server 1 section of the Lines tab, do the following:
    • Set the Address field to the IP address of the VirtualPBX machine, which in this example is virtualpbx.net
    • Set the Portfield to 5060, which is the default
  7. In the Server 2 section of the Lines tab, do the following:
    • Set the Address field to the IP address of the VirtualPBX machine, which in this example is virtualpbx.net
    • Set the Port field to 5060, which is the default
  8. You can check the correct value from within the Settings -> Network page in the VirtualPBX Management Console
  9. Click the Submit button at the bottom of the page. Your Polycom phone will restart itself. After it’s finished rebooting, your phone will register itself with VirtualPBX.

Congratulations! You’ve manually configured your Polycom SoundPoint IP phone for use with VirtualPBX!


Optional: Factory Reset Polycom SoundPoint IP Phone

If your Polycom phone was locked or automatically provisioning with your previous provider, follow these steps to prevent the previous configuration from interfering with your VirtualPBX service.

  1. Unplug the power cord
  2. Wait 10 seconds
  3. Plug phone back in, then immediately press and hold all of these buttons:
    • For IP 320/321, 330/331/335, 430, and 560 phones: 1,3,5,7
    • For IP 301, 501, 550, 600/601, and 650 phones: 4,6,8,*
    • For IP 4000 phones: 6,8,*
  4. Once this is done, enter the admin password: 456
