VirtualPBX Announces Release of Web Phone 2.0

VirtualPBX Web Phone 2.0VirtualPBX, the developer of the Dash Business Phone System, has announced the release of its Web Phone, Version 2.0.

The updated WebRTC-based phone expands its ability to complete calls from desktop and mobile browsers and its attachment to all features included with Dash Plans.

Lon Baker, VirtualPBX COO, is calling this product upgrade a key moment in the present and future of the company.

“Our VirtualPBX Web Phone has long been a staple of our service. It gives everyone the ability to complete and receive calls on our Dash Phone System.

“This upgrade to Version 2.0 keeps the Web Phone’s core functionality while expanding on its potential. This development shows where we’re at currently as a company and where we’ll reach in the future — how we’re making calling accessible to all businesses and expanding the ability of what a web-based phone can do.”

The updated capability in Web Phone 2.0 begins with Voicemail Management. This screen within Web Phone’s new interface gives users space to manipulate messages left on their Dash accounts. Users can search for voicemails by date and caller ID; they can play, download, delete, or use click-to-call to reach those contacts.

Next, a new Status Indicator connects directly to the VirtualPBX Status Site, revealing the state of the overall VirtualPBX platform. Its green-light icon represents VirtualPBX 99.999% uptime and will change to red should any issues occur.

The updated User Interface also lends a number of benefits to customers. The UI handles limited screen space in mobile layouts much more efficiently. A directory menu makes it easier to search and click-to-call contacts. Furthermore, the audio options menu holds a more prominent place in the dashboard.

The back-end code that powers these new features also makes it possible for VirtualPBX developers to extend Web Phone as more of a data manipulation tool. What this means is that, while users could always complete calls and use Web Phone in features like Ring Groups, the phone’s interface was unable to handle collections of users information beyond accessing phone number directories.

Voicemail Management stands out as the primary example that differentiates 2.0 from 1.0. Users’ ability to play and delete their emails from within the phone’s dashboard shows that Web Phone 2.0 is capable of accessing and changing outside stores of data. Although this distinction may seem small on the surface, it has far-reaching implications for the future of Web Phone and its features — like the addition of Texting (SMS) and CRM Integration that will be revealed in the VirtualPBX Product Roadmap as development progresses.

All upgraded features in this release fit perfectly into any computer or mobile device that runs Chrome or Firefox.

Web Phone comes included free with all versions of the Dash Phone System and has propped up many businesses that desire uncomplicated access to a phone at the office and on the commute.

It makes calling colleagues easy by using the unlimited VoIP minutes between system users available on every VirtualPBX account. And it allows for simple contact with customers through users’ local account minutes — also unlimited on Essentials, Advanced, Enterprise, and Ultimate plans.

VirtualPBX invites all its current Dash users to take advantage of this upgrade and encourages prospective businesses to try Web Phone in a 14-day Dash Free Trial.
