VirtualPBX Updates Softphone to Expand Global and Device Compatibility

San Jose, California, November 16, 2016 — VirtualPBX has added more capabilities to their already award-winning desktop softphone. Enhancements in three areas have made for an increase in the number of people and types of situations that can benefit from VoIP telephone service.

Localization is always a big project for SaaS products, and VoIP is no different,” said Lon Baker, VirtualPBX’s COO. “Now with German language support, our customers can expand and grow their businesses into the thriving German-speaking economies,” he added.

In addition to the language enhancement, the latest softphone update also includes a boost in device compatibility focusing in two key areas. First, with added peripheral enhancements, the softphone can be used with widely used Plantronics and Logitech headsets without any third party software. Additionally, this update makes the softphone compatible with the increasingly popular 2-in-1 style of laptop notebooks. The use of these hybrid personal computers is increasing among business travelers, and now the VirtualPBX softphone is the go-to business telephone solution for employees inside and out of the office.

We study our customers’ use habits and weigh their feedback carefully and the data made it clear that compatibility with 2-in-1 laptop/tablet combinations was going to be irreplaceable before too long,” added Baker.

The third area that the softphone is being updated in is in the mid-call user interface. By adding new hot key feature, VirtualPBX has created a tab that can toggle in or out of the screen and execute certain, in-call functions. This allows users to hold, end, transfer, or mute calls even while the softphone is minimized.
