Award Organizers Stay in Touch with Submitters and Judges from Anywhere

San Jose, Calif., October 19, 2010 – The founders of the
New York International Spirits Competition
(NYISC) are always on the go – they launched their competition earlier this year to recognize the best spirits in the world, and that means keeping up with lots of entry forms and connecting with a myriad of judges and vintners.

Fortunately, NYISC founder Adam Levy, a spirits writer, was already familiar with a productivity system perfect for his new venture. NYISC relies on the VirtualPBX business-class phone system to manage calls, stay connected to award entrants and judges from anywhere, and receive award submissions through the built-in faxing capabilities.

“After using Virtual PBX at a previous company, I knew that they offered a great service that would be easy for us to implement,” said Levy. “Today, our team relies on Virtual PBX to retrieve all of our voicemails and faxes, even when we are in completely different locations. In particular, we value the ease-of-use and varied feature set, which allows us to work out of our home offices and on-the-go when we’re at tasting events.”

NYISC was born out of the success that Levy had with his first competition, a comparison of premier spirits in which the winning selections were made by respected, trade-only judges. The judges interacted regularly with consumers in their roles as buyers for top retail stores, sommeliers, restaurant owners, distributors and importers.

The NYISC competition receives several hundred entries. With the influx of applications and inquires, NYISC realized the need for a business-class phone system to help it handle the numerous phone calls and inbound faxes. Enter Virtual PBX, which has allowed the company to both reduce overall costs and have access to vital features such as follow-me calling and inbound fax. Levy estimates the new system is saving the firm about $980 a year on phone charges.

What’s more, NYISC never misses a call or fax, since each inbound call is properly routed to the appropriate line. The inbound applications are sent in a PDF format directly to e-mail, which allows Levy to conduct business on the road. The company now reaps the benefits of having the best of both worlds – the low cost of a hosted PBX service and the industry’s deepest feature set.

“A majority of our customers are on-the-go and require flexible resources to help them keep up with the needs of their clients, regardless of their location,” said Paul Hammond, president and CEO of Virtual PBX. “With the industry’s strongest set of features included in our standard plans, we give customers like the New York International Spirits Competition a cost-effective and powerful business phone system that delivers peace of mind.”
