At Virtual PBX, it is our view that advanced technologies are making it easier to team and work with others anywhere on the planet. Use of hosted PBX and conferencing services for telecommunications and email and electronic faxing for written communications, coupled with the widespread use and functionality of the Internet, are essentially shrinking distances and crossing time zones for businesses.

These technologies have already made the “virtual office” a reality. In a virtual office there is no central building for a company and workers telecommute from home or other locations. Hosted PBX, conferencing, email, and the Internet bring them together in the essential ways. Businesses employing virtual offices save on rent, utilities, and a host of other things.

Now, we’re starting to see “global offices” where each employee can work in any part of the world, and be joined to the rest of the company through technology. These global offices span time zones and make it possible for companies to be “local” in every region of the world, while maintaining the unity of employees that is at the heart of making a business run. From a business point of view, we have become one “flat earth” with everyone working on it together.

While recognizing and embracing the differences in culture, language, and time zone that are part of our flat earth, it is our goal to improve communication in every possible way as the flat earth businesses of the future get started.
